Outcomes

What should change when students use Campus Match.

We designed Campus Match around specific changes for students, counselors, and schools. This page explains the outcomes we expect and how we're beginning to measure them.

Intended outcomesWhat Campus Match is designed to improve. Described on this page.

Our approach

Theory of Change

Challenge

Students are expected to make career and education decisions before many have had enough structured exploration.

Counselors provide valuable guidance, but limited time and large caseloads make extended one-on-one career discovery hard to offer every student.

Activity

Campus Match provides guided, conversational career discovery. Students can follow their interests while Campus Match provides the structure and keeps discovery moving toward useful career directions.

Immediate output

Students:

  • explore interests, strengths, preferences, and dislikes
  • discover career possibilities
  • react to, compare, and refine those possibilities
  • connect careers to majors, colleges, training, certifications, trades, and other pathways

How change happens

From conversation to concrete career direction.

  1. Guided conversation
  2. Broader self-discovery
  3. Career possibilities
  4. Student reactions & refinement
  5. Education & pathway options
  6. Clearer direction & next steps
For counselors

Counselors gain useful context about student interests and exploration.

For schools

Individualized career discovery becomes possible at greater scale.

Intended outcomes

What we expect to change.

Student outcome

Students leave with clearer career directions and next steps.

Campus Match is designed to help students:

  • discover careers they may not have considered
  • understand why certain careers may fit
  • narrow broad interests into several concrete career directions
  • connect careers to majors, colleges, training, certifications, and other pathways
  • leave with clearer next steps
Counselor outcome

Counselors gain useful context about student interests and exploration.

Campus Match is designed to help counselors:

  • see student interests and preferences
  • understand careers students considered, liked, or rejected
  • spend less time starting from zero
  • focus limited counseling time on clarification and decisions
School outcome

Schools provide more individualized career discovery at greater scale.

Campus Match is intended to help schools:

  • provide individualized career discovery to more students
  • scale career exploration across grades or schools
  • gain visibility into student career and pathway interests
  • create a more structured process from exploration to concrete options

Measurement

What We're Measuring

We are beginning to measure whether Campus Match produces these changes in real school settings.

Students

Career clarity

Do students have a clearer sense of possible career directions after using Campus Match?

Students

Career discovery

Do students identify careers they had not previously considered?

Students

Concrete direction

Do students finish with several careers worth further exploration?

Students

Pathway understanding

Can students connect career interests to majors, training, certifications, or other education pathways?

Counselors

Counselor insight

Does the information generated by Campus Match help counselors better understand each student's interests and emerging direction?

Engagement

Student engagement

Do students complete the exploration process and actively react to the options presented?

Initial school-based measurement is beginning with our first high school pilot, in Pennsylvania. Results will be published as sufficient data becomes available.
